Greg was a charter member of the Warren County Junior Firefighters Program. He was the Youth President from 2008 until 2012.
During his tenure as Youth President, Greg oversaw the formation of Fire Explorer Post 672 and the inaugural Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition. He led the competition team to numerous 1st Place finishes at various firefighter competitions, including the Warren County Firemen's Day Competition and the Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition both in Warrenton, NC, the Millers Ferry Junior Firefighter Muster in Salisbury, NC, and the BSA WinterFest `12 competition in Gatlinburg, TN. Greg also attended the South Atlantic Fire-Rescue Expo `10 in Raleigh, NC.
Greg was a junior member of the Macon Rural Volunteer Fire Department. As an adult firefighter on Macon Rural, he eventually rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief.
While still in high school, Greg obtained his North Carolina NFPA-1403 certification, was a member of the Science National Honor Society, and graduated high school with honors.
After high school, Greg attended Wilson Community College and graduated with honors with a fire protection technology degree.
Greg was then hired as a career firefighter by the City of Wilson Fire/Rescue. The following year Greg was presented the Firefighter of the Year Award by the Wilson Golden Circle Optimist Club.
Greg currently works as a firefighter/park ranger for the NC Forest Service.

"H.D." was a member of the Warren County Junior Firefighters Program from 2012 to 2016. He served as the Secretary/Treasurer, served on several ad hoc committees, and was the official chief chef.
Josh was a junior member of Soul City Volunteer Fire Department, and later Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department.
While a Warren County Junior Firefighter, Josh was certified in CPR / AED / First Aid, and he earned his North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification before turning 18 years of age!
Josh participated in no less than eight firefighter competitions, including the Warren County Firemen's Day Competition and the Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition both in Warrenton, NC, the Millers Ferry Junior Firefighter Muster in Salisbury, NC, the Stony Hill Junior Firefighter Challenge in Wake Forest, NC, and BSA WinterFest `15 in Gatlinburg, TN. Josh also obtained a grant which allowed the Warren County Junior Firefighters to attend the National Volunteer Fire Council's National Junior Firefighter Academy at the Scott Safety Headquarters in Monroe, NC.
Josh was the recipient of the 2015 Explorer of the Year Award.
As an EMT, Josh worked at Warren County Rescue Squad, Eastern Medical Transport, and Northampton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS). He has also worked full-time in public safety positions with Vance County and Warren County Sheriff’s Offices.

D.K. participated twice in the WVU National Junior Firefighter Camp in Weston, WV. During his first year there he served as a Company Officer, and was elected by his peers to be that year’s Camp Fire Chief.
While a Warren County Junior Firefighter, D.K. earned his CPR / AED / First Aid certification and took the bloodborne pathogens class. He also earned his Hazardous Materials-Responder certification. D.K. not only obtained his North Carolina NFPA-1403 certification [minimum training requirements for interior structural firefighting], but he only lacked his live burn class (which he could not take until he turned 18 years old) to receive his North Carolina Firefighter-II certification!
Starting in 2016, D.K. was the recipient of the Explorer of the Year Award for three consecutive years. He also received the Norlina VFD Firefighter of the Year Award in 2016, which was the first time the department had presented that award to a junior member. In 2019, D.K. was nominated for the National Volunteer Fire Council's National Junior Firefighter of the Year Award.
In 2018, D.K. completed his high school classes five months early in December and immediately started applying for jobs to various fire departments. In April 2019 he was hired full-time by the City of Durham Fire Department as a career firefighter, a month before his classmates graduated high school.
Currently D.K. is a volunteer firefighter, first responder, and Captain with Norlina Volunteer Fire Department and Warrenton Rural Volunteer Fire Department, is now an Associate Advisor of the Warren County Junior Firefighters Program, Also serves as an Director on the Warren County Fire Commission Board and he is working on his degree in emergency management.
