Be the first to take part in the inaugural North Carolina Youth Fire Academy at the newly constructed Tim Davidson Memorial Training Facility in Stovall, North Carolina.   
​
  • WHEN: The North Carolina Youth Fire Academy is Saturday, September 11, 2021, 8:00 a.m.  
    • This is the 20th anniversary of 9/11, so we have an incredibly special keynote speaker: Phil G. Larimore, FDNY (Ret.), who was inside the South Tower when it collapsed! 

  • WHERE: The North Carolina Youth Fire Academy is at the Tim Davidson Memorial Training Facility, Stovall Fire Department, 204 US 15 Hwy, Stovall (Granville County), NC. 
    ​
  • WHAT: The North Carolina Youth Fire Academy is all-day essential Hands-On Training (HOT), broken down into three 3-hour blocks of instruction.  

    The three blocks of instructions are:
    1. Search Drills in the Fire Tower - Search strategies and techniques, clearing rooms, locating victims, and searching with a thermal imaging camera (TIC).​
    2. Hydrants-To-Nozzles - Hose deployments, attack lines, hoseline advancement, waterstreams, and working as a team.
    3. Forcible Entry - Inward and outward swinging doors, commercial doors, crush door, saw work, locks, padlocks, one-person and two-person forcible entry will be covered.
      ​
  • WHO: The North Carolina Youth Fire Academy open to all youth firefighters 13 to 17 years old.   
     

    NCYFA STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:
    • Students should be proficient with donning and doffing PPE & SCBA.
    • Students are required to bring their own turnout gear and airpack with a spare air bottle.  
      • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) / Turnout Gear must be NFPA-1971 compliant, and consist of boots, pants, coat, hood, helmet, and structural firefighting gloves.
      • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) / Airpack with facepiece must be NFPA-1981 compliant.  
    • Students should wear comfortable breathable (cotton) clothing and sneakers-type footgear (no open toed sandals or flip-flops).  A NCYFA T-shirt will be provided to all Academy Students.
    • Students may want to bring some cash for vendors and snacks while at the NCYFA.

  • STUDENT REGISTRATION: ​ 
    • ​The registration fee is $85 per student to help defray the costs of materials and supplies. 
    • Lunch and a NCYFA T-shirt is provided with registration.  
    • The North Carolina Youth Fire Academy is limited to only 50 students, so register now!
