
Greg was a charter member of the Warren County Junior Firefighters. He was the Youth President from 2008 until 2012.
During his tenure as Youth President, Greg oversaw the formation of Fire Explorer Post 672 and the inaugural Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition. He led the competition team to numerous 1st Place finishes at various firefighter competitions, including the Warren County Firemen's Day Competition and the Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition both in Warrenton, NC, the Millers Ferry Junior Firefighter Muster in Salisbury, NC, and the BSA WinterFest `12 competition in Gatlinburg, TN. Greg also attended the South Atlantic Fire-Rescue Expo `10 in Raleigh, NC.
Greg was a junior member of the Macon Rural Volunteer Fire Department. As an adult firefighter on Macon Rural, he eventually rose to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief.
While still in high school, Greg obtained his North Carolina NFPA-1403 certification, was a member of the Science National Honor Society, and graduated high school with honors.
After high school, Greg attended Wilson Community College and graduated with honors with a fire protection technology degree.
Greg was then hired as a career firefighter by the City of Wilson Fire/Rescue. The following year Greg was presented the Firefighter of the Year Award by the Wilson Golden Circle Optimist Club. Greg has since been promoted to Master Firefighter.
