Buddy was a charter member of the Warren County Junior Firefighters and a member from 2008-13. He served in several positions of leadership including Training Officer, Recruitment Officer, and as a member of the Fundraising Committee. Buddy was instrumental in numerous fundraising efforts.
Buddy was a junior member of Arcola Rural Volunteer Fire Department, where he continues to volunteer as a firefighter and first responder.
Buddy participated in at least seven firefighter competitions, including the Warren County Firemen's Day Competition and the Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition both in Warrenton, NC, the Stony Hill Junior Firefighter Challenge in Wake Forest, NC, the Millers Ferry Junior Firefighter Muster in Salisbury, NC, and the BSA WinterFest `12 competition in Gatlinburg, TN.
Through the Warren County Junior Firefighters, Buddy obtained his CPR / AED / First Aid certification.
After graduating high school, Buddy took the North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course through Nash Community College.
Buddy worked as an emergency telecommunicator at the Halifax County 9-1-1 Central Communications Center in Halifax, North Carolina but currently dispatches police, fire, and EMS for Warren County E-911 Communications in Warrenton, North Carolina.
