ADULT ADVISORS

What do Advisors do?
  • An advisor must be present at all activities, including meetings, fundraisers, trainings & drills, and trips.
  • Advisors guide, mentor, and supervise youth members to ensure they acquire knowledge and skills in a safe environment.
  • Advisors ensure the safety of everyone and are responsible for the well-being of youth members.
What are the requirements to become an Advisor?
  • Advisors must be at least 21 years of age and be duly qualified for the position, meaning you do not necessarily need to be a certified firefighter but must have enough training and experience to have the knowledge and skills to teach others.  Instructor certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history check, a driver history check, and a drug urinalysis test.
  • Must be able to work with youth in a positive, constructive, and age-appropriate way.
  • All adult leaders are required to take youth protection training before any volunteer service with youth begins.
